Anti-Anxiety & IV Sedation

Many people have put off treating their gum disease or getting dental implants for years out of fear of pain, or anxiety associated with being in the dental chair.  We understand this.  In fact, most people get nervous just thinking about going to the dentist!  Dr. Chapman's office offers two levels of help for you, if you are one of these people.

Anti-Anxiety Medication is for people who would benefit from medication to "help take the edge off" from their nervousness.  Dr. Chapman will prescribe a safe medication that you take just before bedtime and again one hour prior to your scheduled appointment.  You will need to have someone drive you to & from your appointment.  With this medication, it's not unusual for our patients to actually fall asleep while Dr. Chapman performs the procedure.  Imaging taking a nap while getting healthier!  Many of our patients find anti-axiety medication to be just what they need.

IV Sedation or conscious sedation, provides a higher level of sedation for people with moderate to severe anxiety.  A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist will monitor your heart rate, breathing and blood pressure before, during and after the treatment.  They will be administering medications into your bloodstream and the effect is immediate.  This safe and highly effective treatment will be adjusted as necessary to keep you pleasantly sedated throughout the treatment.  You will leave our office having all of the treatment completed that you needed, while having enjoyed the most soothing, comfortable dental experience ever.  In most cases, you won't even have any memories of the procedure.  Having a Nurse Anesthetist monitor you and provide the medications allows Dr. Chapman to fully concentrate on performing the procedure.

Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)is also available.
